Tinted Lip Balm

By Nicole Smith

Because of the thinness of the lips, it is prone to show signs of dryness which is primarily caused by by external factors including cold weather. That is why it is important to use a beauty product that is used to prevent dry and chapped lips by acting as a protective layer to the lips and avoiding dryness by locking the moisture inside the lips.

Though there are a lot of lip products that a person can choose from to make one's lips gorgeous, it is also important to make sure that the problem of chapped lips should be avoided. We may think that a lip balm only serves to protect the lips from exposure to external factors, but it is good to know that there have been variations from traditional lip balm. These are known as tinted lip balms. Tinted lip balms not only moisturize the lips, it also gives light and sheer color to the lips. Not only that, there are tinted lip balms that contain SPF and thus helps protect the lips from the heat of the sun.

Important factors to consider in choosing the perfect tinted lip balm to use are the following:

1. The first factor is the lip balm's ingredient. Users must make sure to choose a tinted lip balm that does not contain harmful chemicals and additives that may cause lip irritation. beeswax, petroleum jelly, carnauba wax, dyes, fragrances and sunscreen are some ingredients that are used in making a lip balm.

2. Aside from a lip balm's ingredient, it is also important to consider the color of the tinted lip balm that you are going to choose. A tinted lip balm that has a color that you like and matches your personality and skin color and one that is suited for you to use on a daily basis is recommended for you to purchase. Tinted lip balms nowadays, already offers a variety of options in terms of available colors to choose from and this includes pink, nude color, fuchsia, rose and red.

3. Method of application- there are tinted lip balms that are encased in minute containers thus requiring the use of our finger tips to apply them and there are also those that are applied like a lipstick, encased in a tube-like containers. We have to make sure that we choose what is easier for us to apply especially that we may need to apply tinted lip balm often.

4. The last factor on the list is the ability of the tinted lip balm to protect the lips and relieve it from dryness and being chapped. Prior to buying a lip balm that you can use, it is recommended to check for product reviews and user ratings so that you will know what brand and kind of lip balm offers the best protection for your lips.

Tinted lip balms differ from lip gloss since lip gloss have a shiny finish and doesn't seal in moisture to the lips unlike the tinted lip balm. Also tinted lip balms, unlike lipstick, have lighter and sheer color. Aside from that, lip balms don't stay on very long on the lips, so if you will be using a lip balm, you may need to reapply more often than when using a lip gloss or lipstick but the good thing is that tinted lip balms are more effortless to use than lipstick or lip gloss.
