It is best if you can start sowing the seeds during summer. Make sure that they are several inches apart from each other. If the seedlings have leaves already, they can be replanted. If you leave in area with winter, make sure you let it pass by before replanting.

Avoid over fertilizing the plant because doing so would actually lessen the fragrance of the basil. This is something that can increase the overall health of the plant. You might want to clip the leaves back. You might want to put them near your tomato if you have any.
