What a pleasant couple (Mary and Joseph); bound together by a deep and true love and real respect. It was early in their relationship, with marriage in view, that Mary discovered that she was with kid. This had come as little surprise, as the angel Gabriel said to her some weeks previously that she would be the ma of the Lord Jesus. This would be accomplished by no human agency but , "the Holy Spook shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall cast a shadow over thee: thus also that holy thing that shall be born of thee (or "that which shall be born of thee, holy") shall be called the Boy of God." God therefore was His Pa; Joseph was Mary's man but never the daddy of the Lord Jesus.
His therefore was a supernatural conception; thought of the Holy Spirit. Adam and Eve came into this world by creation; we all arrived here by generation but Christ came by Incarnation. It is described in the Word of Our Lord as a great poser but we believe it in its each detail though we can't understand or explain it. In this way the Lord Jesus didn't partake of human sin but all the while He was here, was impeccable, meaning it was not possible for Him to sin.
Although these details had been communicated to Mary, Joseph wasn't at that point aware of all that had happened and as he didn't wish to embarrass Mary, he advised her to remain in seclusion till the birth of the kid. He might have had misgivings about Mary; he may even have considered not going through with the marriage but then the angel of the Lord seemed to him additionally , in a dream, and advised him of the details of the situation. This put Joseph's mind at rest and allayed all his fears pertaining to the pureness and chastity of his young wife to be.
Just as the time for her to give birth to the Lord Jesus approached, a decree from Caesar Augustus meant that all subjects had to revisit the city of their birth to register in a great nationwide census. This ended in Joseph and Mary having to make the long and arduous trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem, Mary being great with kid. When they arrived in Bethlehem, there were crowds everywhere and so there was no room for them in the hotel. They were compelled to go to a humble dwelling and while there, Mary gave birth to her firstborn Son, "wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a manger". In her arms she lovingly cradled the Son of Our Lord God, incarnate in a honey.
This was also to fulfil one of the many predictions in relation to the Lord Jesus, all of which were satisfied with uncanny precision, in their each detail. Hundreds of years prior to that significant event, the prophet Micah had foretold the precise positioning of the Saviour's birth.
After their brief stay in Bethlehem, they returned to Nazareth where Jesus spent the next thirty years or so , as the lowly wood worker, labouring patiently till He began His public ministry, so famous to us with its forceful miracles and fantastic parables.
