Growth Hormone (Gh) Is Secreted In A Pulsatile Order

By Jake Alexandre

Growth is controlled by the hormones the body produces. Many diseases of the endocrine system, which is made up of the glands that produce hormones, can affect growth. Hormones are secreted by the endocrine glands and carried throughout the body in the bloodstream. The hypothalamus (part of the brain) controls the pituitary gland, which in turn releases some of the hormones that control growth and sexual development. Estrogen and testosterone are important hormones that drive sexual development and function and also play a role in growth. And hormonal imbalance can have the following effects on the body.

At times Hormone therapy is used for treating symptoms and conditions associated with blood levels of certain hormones decrease due to aging or some diseases. hese are small protein hormones are similar in their sequence and structure and play crucial roles in growth, development and milk production. It is a pea-sized gland located at the base of the brain. As children grow, their height, weight and strength increase. Growth hormone causes the body to make insulin-like growth factor (IGF1) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein. Specific messengers released by the body also stimulate and regulate human grow hormones.

Growth hormone was identified in the 1920s as a growth promoting factor. By mid to late 1980s scientists were able to produce this 191-residue protein hormone in bacteria using recombinant DNA technology. With the availability of large quantities of this recombinant hormone, therapeutic uses of growth hormone became possible too. Diagnosing growth hormone deficiency is important to identify children who will benefit most from the GH treatment. Growth hormone (GH) is secreted in a pulsatile fashion. . It performs its multiple functions by binding to growth hormone receptors on its target organs and cells.

These receptors have separate portions outside and inside the cell. . When two receptors are brought together, interaction between the portions inside the cell triggers several enzymatic reactions and signaling processes that stimulate human grow hormone thus formation of this receptor dimer is crucial for growth hormone function.
