Skin Care for Oily Skin

The main advantage of oily skin is that it ages at slower rate than any other skin type. People with oily skin need to give special care and attention to maintain a flawless skin. Oily skin needs regular and special cleansing with plenty of hot water and soap to avoid the pores of the skin from clogging. However harsh products must be avoided as harsh chemicals strip the skin oil and encourage flakiness. This will again cause reaction which is known as reactive seborrhea. This is a condition where the oil glands work overtime to compensate the natural oil loss.

People having oily skin must avoid using skincare products that leaves the skin feeling taut and dehydrated. This will causes the top most layer of the skin to shrink and restricts the flow of oil through the pores which leads to blockages or breakouts. It is better to use oil-based products to cleanse the skin as the oil based products help dissolve the sebum effectively. One can opt for oil-free moisturizers to maintain shine free complexion.

Individuals having oily skin must limit washing the face to two or three times every day as too much of washing can stimulate oil secretion. People with oily skin have to choose their cleansers with care and must avoid going in for cleansing creams. Usage of harsh soaps or chemicals must be avoided; instead medicated or antibacterial cleansers can be used along with water rich minerals. Cleansers or lotions that contain alcohol must be highly avoided and after each phase of cleansing one has to apply natural oil-free moisturizers to keep the skin supple.

As hot water dissolves oil from the skin individuals having oily skin can use hot water instead of lukewarm or cold water. The people who are having oily skin need not to apply moisturizers on their skin until late 30's as after this age aging process in oily skin is slower than any other skin types. If an individual has scaly oily skin this could be corrected by using deep-cleansing exfoliation on alternate nights along with light moisturizers. While cleansing the face massaging must be given well by using the finger tips using upward and downward motion.

Face masks can be applied then and there, the excellent face mask is the clay or the mud mask and if the individual has sensitive skin white or rose colored clays can be used. Light antiseptic creams and face mast can be used once or twice every week. Before applying make-up one has to always use antiseptic day cream with active ingredients to diminish sebaceous secretions.
