How to Use Sugaring, a Natural Way to Remove Hair

Sugaring is a method of hair removal which is less traumatic than waxing. In this procedure, which may be performed at home or by a licensed esthetician, a paste of sugar, lemon and water is applied against the growth of the hair and removed with short tugs or flicks.

How to Prepare Your Own Home Sugaring Recipe

A home recipe for making your own sugar paste for hair removal is provided by the Beauty & Fitness Savvy website. Boil 2 cups sugar and 1/4 cup each of water and lemon juice together, then simmer for approximately 25 minutes until a rich amber color results. Remove from heat and allow to cool about 15 minutes, then pour into a container you can cover. Allow to cool completely and it is ready to use.

Flatten out some paste in your hands, taking care not to handle it too much or it will get too sticky. Apply to skin which has hair at least 1/4 inch long for best results. Flick  up one edge to allow you to get a good grip, then yank the paste against the direction of hair growth. Fold the paste in half, and repeat in the next area you wish to clear of hair. Continue to use this piece until it is too stickly to use well, at which point simply discard and get another piece of sugar paste.

This procedure spares your skin from harsh chemicals. It also has an exfoliating action, improving the appearance of your skin. Moisturize your skin after any hair removal treatment to soothe any irritation.
