Various Reasons To Join The Military

By Celia Hall

Military is the name of the organization authorized, by society, to use legal force to defend its country and inhabitants. There are many different branches with various duties in the organization. In general, those who do or have served in the organization are considered honorable for their service to their country. There are pros and cons associated with the service and the reasons to join the military are vast.

A big seller is education. Through the military, many people are able to enroll in education programs that offset the costs or pay in full for college enrollment. This is a perk for many people who do not have the finances to pay for college without taking out loans and other kinds of financial aid.

The money available through this kind of work is also a reason for many people. A lot of positions, even if they are considered entry level, offer a good salary. In some cases, the military will even provide room and board at no cost. As experience is gained and an individual moves up in their field, they are able to earn even higher salaries.

Work in this organization may require going to combat or other physical labor. Those involved in the military have protection with medical coverage. In modern times, it can be difficult for individuals and families to find affordable health insurance coverage. The medical benefits given to those enrolled are notable and often include no deductibles, no annual fees and no co-pays.

Many people do not consider their service an end-all, be-all situation. Instead, it is a gateway for them to find a rewarding career. This organization is know for giving men and women the necessary skills, direction and discipline they need in order to succeed in other areas. It also helps provide experience and education. There are some people who have served for an extended period of time, retire early and still collect service benefits.

One other reason a person may be interested in signing up is for the real-world experience they can gain. Many of these people are able to travel and live in other places where they experience new and different cultures. The work that they do also helps them hone in on skills that can be applied in other careers and situations.

Not all individuals use these reasons to join the force. For some, it is a family tradition that they want to carry on. In other situations, it is done for the sole purpose of giving back to their country. Others are interested in camaraderie that comes with being involved with the service. In fact, many people meet their best friends or spouses while in service. Still, there are some that do it just because. They might be interested in trying something new or just looking to find themselves.

There are a variety of reasons to join the military. There are some who choose to enroll for career and education reasons and others who are interested in the benefits and money associated with the force. An individual may hope to gain new skills, memories and comrades from their time in service, or they may want to sign up just because. Regardless of the reasoning, it is important that the decision is that of the person signing up. People who want enroll should do research and consult with an advisor form the organization.
