Based on research executed from the University of California, ?individuals who documented brushing their teeth less than once a day were about 65 percent more likely to acquire dementia compared to those who cleaned everyday.?

The dementia research was also reviewed in the United Kingdom, where the information on the study were discussed more carefully.

?The experts identified that adult men who had poor chewing function and did not use dentures ? had a 91% increased danger of dementia compared with individuals who acquired sufficient natural teeth to allow adequate chewing,? the study indicates.

According to United Kingdom's Alzeimer's Society, "There are two major types of oral disease - gum (periodontal) ailment and tooth decay (dental caries, more normally known as cavities). Each could cause distress or discomfort and can lead to the development of illness. Each pain and illness can aggravate the confusion associated with dementia."

Women commonly cleaned their teeth at least once a day. It was identified that individuals who brushed various times each day had slimmer rates of dementia, the 18-year research concluded.

Visits to the dentist can help lower the danger for dementia as well, because teeth are examined and cured.

Fluoride could be used on real teeth by a dentist to maintain them tough and healthy. Additionally, an electric tooth brush and mouthwash might help in the proper care of the mouth.
