Obstacles to Better Fitness and How You can get Past Them

By Larry Guiseler

Many people want to get fit but find that something is always getting in the way. It can be really easy to find an excuse to not exercise like not having the time or the motivation. The following are some ways to help you get past your limitations and obstacles to getting fit. One common excuse for not exercising is a lack of time.

It can be hard to find time to go to the gym or go for a jog between work and family responsibilities. But, after looking at your schedule, you may find that you don't make the best of your time. But one study shows that on average, people in the U.S. watch five hours of television every day. Cutting that number in half would give you more time for fitness related activities. Time also gets wasted on computer games, trivial phone calls, and text messaging. When you cut back on unproductive activities, you will have more time to exercise.

Incorporating your workout into your daily life is a good way to find more time for exercise. Try using your car less to get to work and instead run or ride a bike as a means for incorporating more exercise into your life. If you work in an office, you can take a power walk during your lunch hour. Your pet will love the extra exercise your giving him when you take him for a jog, pets are great exercise buddies. Don't bother with the elevator, instead take the stairs. This way you get the most benefit from your daily routine and a little exercise too. You'll be able to successfully achieve the hurdle jump over the time issue this way.

One reason people use to not exercise is being tired and having low energy levels which is also a symptom of poor fitness. The obvious reason people are always tired is that many aren't getting enough sleep. Not only does sleep deprivation make it difficult to feel like exercising, it can make it difficult or even dangerous to maintain physical activity. You need to let your doctor know if you have serious issues with insomnia but otherwise you can get some help by making changes to your diet and routine. You may find that turning off your TV and computer earlier and avoiding stimulants in the evenings help you fall asleep easier.

All you really need to do is set your mind to it in order to get around any obstacles. You will prevail if you work hard to find the time you need for hit activity like doing workouts using a home exercise bike machine that is going to help with your fitness goals. Sometimes the best thing you can do is reorganize your priorities no matter how hard that maybe it's going to be worth your effort. The above strategies can be used as a guideline to overcoming obstacles to fitness.
