Causes for formation of Facial Moles

By Stephen Smith

There are actually two main reasons for the formation of facial moles. The first would be sunlight. Prolonged exposure to UV or ultraviolet radiation can speed up skin aging. This is the type of aging that most people try to avoid since it is premature. When the skin damages to a great extent, it will lead to melanoma or skin cancer. The medical field has been abuzz with many studies regarding melanoma, mole formation, UV radiation exposure and how they are connected to one another.

The next reason that can be stated for the formation of facial moles includes genetic reasons. Genetics is one of the main reasons for many medical conditions and illnesses that is besetting many people. So if you discover moles suddenly springing up in various parts of your body, you can bet your top dollar that genetics has something to do with it. Perhaps your ancestors and even your parents also have facial moles. If the moles are confirmed to be brought about by heredity, it is highly likely that skin cancer or melanoma would be imminent. A high level of caution should be exercised when it comes to the treatment. Often, the suggested method of treatment would include laser surgery or even cryosurgery. You can also choose to apply immediate surgical procedures, excision being one of them.

Heredity is usually the main reason for the formation of the type of moles we know as dysplastic nevi. The body would then find itself with hundreds of moles developing all over. Some of the moles will be very large are considered to be atypical moles. If these large moles reach a high number, maybe 50 or so, you could be sure that skin cancer or melanoma is a very high probability. Therefore, you should keep a close eye on these moles and monitor them constantly.

How are mole formation and the age of the person related? It is not unusual for moles to appear on a person at an early age and then slowly disappear in time as they age. Moles are more prevalent among fair-skinned people. The average number of moles they can have is 30. Sometimes, they might even have around 400 moles. The number of moles that can be found in one person would largely depend on how long the telomere is.

The longer the telomere is, the more moles there will be forming. Take, for example, a person with 50 moles and then another person with only 10. You will see that the person with more moles will have a longer telomere. The role of telomere is also seen in the ageing process. There are many types of skin lesions, and they include the moles, or what we also call nevi. You cannot expect all moles to appear on the surface of the skin. Moles could also be found under the skin. At times, they can appear above the skin surface.

Whether or not a mole should be removed or retained would depend on health risks (if they can cause cancer) or how they affect One's looks. If you wish to have a clear facial skin and attach more importance to beauty, you can easily remove them by laser surgery.
