How to Stop Smoking Pot - 9 Tips

To stop smoking pot - 9 tips for you.

Set a date, and stick to it.

You may want to taper off or cut down prior to the date. This will lessen withdrawal symptoms somewhat. This is especially true if you smoke weed a lot.

Exercise more.

This will help you physically relax, and is good for you generally. Do not over exercise, particularly if you have not been very active in the past. Just walking around is a great exercise when you are quitting weed. Try to walk for 30 minutes every day. Walk more if you can.

Limit your caffeine intake.

Try to drink only one small cup of coffee or tea, and make it weak at that. This will reduce the possibility of panic attacks, shortness of breath, feeling nervous and having heart palpitations. You should consider cutting back before your date to quit.

Consume complex carbohydrates like fruit juice.

Any kind of juice is fine. Don't drink too much orange juice, or you will end up spending too much time in the bathroom.

Increase your intake of salad, fruit and vegetables.

Healthy eating and exercise is a good idea generally, but this is especially helpful when quitting pot.

Distract yourself.

You might like entertainment such as DVD's, and games. You might like to read. You may have a hobby you like. You can surf the net, or do some work around your house or apartment. However, do not be too ambitious, as your ability to concentrate will probably not be at its peak during this time.

If things get too difficult, consider seeing your doctor for some help.

The doctor may recommend a mild sedative, but be careful. Do not trade one addiction for another. Be honest with your doctor. Tell him what you are doing.

Hang out with people who don't smoke pot.

Don't isolate yourself from others, however. Don't go to places where you will be exposed to pot.

Be patient.

Most people find that their symptoms last only about a month or so. However, "protracted withdrawal" symptoms, including sleep disturbances will sometimes last a lot longer. You should not be alarmed, as you will get back to normal in time.

These are general tips. Everyone is a different but these will be helpful.
