¾ cup raw lentils

3 carrots

¼ tsp black pepper 4 tsp vinegar

Wash the lentils thoroughly with cold water. Place all the ingredients in a saucepan with enough water cover. Bring to the boil and simmer for about twenty to thirty minutes making sure it does not become to dry. When all the ingredients are cooked, take the pot off the heat.

This healthy stew is quite popular these days. It is one of the easiest recipes and one of the most filling when you are on a detox diet especially if you eat it with some brown rice. Add other vegetables if you prefer.

Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cucumber (whole)

A handful of spinach

6 lettuce leaves

1 mango or papaya

Place all the ingredients in a powerful blender with just enough pure water if needed to make the blades turn. You can use any other green leaves or fruit you want in the process. Try using more fruit and less green leaves if you find the taste too strong to begin with.

Fresh Ginger Detox Tea

Ingredients:

3 cups of water

¼ cup freshly grated ginger root

½ tsp turmeric powder

1 tbsp raw honey or pure maple syrup

Juice of half a lemon or more to taste

Boil water and add the ginger. Let the water simmer for around fifteen minutes. Stir in the honey or maple syrup and lemon juice. Strain into a mug. Let it cool and sip slowly.

Ginger has been studied for many years. It is a good digestive and can help with inflammation. Curcumin, the active ingredient in Turmeric, stimulates the Phase 2 detox system which eliminates toxins. It also inhibits Phase 1 detoxification which is useful for preventing cancer.
