Let's face it. We all want to be thin and fit but with all the delicious food easily obtainable and affordable, it will take all of our strengths to refuse a slice of that chocolate cake or a scoop of that vanilla ice cream or that mouth-watering, delicious hamburger.
You don't even have to step out of your house to get all these ready-made fatty food. Almost all fast food restaurants will deliver to your doorstep. Food is just a phone call away. And now available 24/7. What can fat people like us do? At least, if they don't have a delivery service, we might think twice about getting into the car and driving all the way to the restaurant. Now that they deliver to our doorstep, what is to stop us from gouging on more fatty food! They have now deprived us of even the little exercise we could have had walking from the car into the restaurant. This development can only mean one thing. More fat people and fat people will become even fatter!
The will is strong but the flesh is weak
Everyday I promise myself I will go on a diet. I will start to exercise. And everyday I will tell myself, I will start tomorrow. Guess what? Tomorrow never comes. Because when tomorrow comes, it's today and tomorrow is still tomorrow. When will tomorrow ever be today? How to get the strength and motivation to turn tomorrow to become today?
Involve somebody else
The first step you can take to change your tomorrows into today is to involve somebody else in your weight loss quest. Tell somebody, in fact, tell everybody (your spouse, your adult children, your best friend, etc) that you want to lose weight and need their help. How?
To monitor you.
This is actually quite an imposition on them. But in order to keep to your resolution of losing weight, you need the support of the closest people in your life. I'm sure if you matter to them, they will willingly help you especially if your losing weight means you will become healthier.
I watched this television show recently about a man who's trying to quit smoking. He told everybody that if anybody were to see him smoking, they were to ask him for $10! You can do something like this. If anyone catches you eating unhealthy, fatty food, they will "punish" you by making you burn the calories you've consumed by exercising. This way you get to do the exercises that you've been postponing all the time.
Keep a journal
The second step you can take towards achieving weight loss is to keep a journal. Write down what you eat and the activities that you do as well as any exercises you've done. This way you can track where all that pounds you're piling are coming from and you can take the necessary action to change.
The above two steps are very simple to follow and will lead to a long term weight loss because it involves a change in your lifestyle. It is after all our affluent lifestyle that leads us to over-indulge and end up like a sack of potatoes!
