What were your New Year resolutions? Let me guess, one of them was Weight loss. Are you having difficulty in keeping your resolution, afraid that like last year these will also be discarded and forgotten?

Keep off gas

By this we mean keep away from carbonated drinks. Not quite ready to give up your favorite fizzy drink yet, listen to this, 350 ml of your soft drink gives you 150 calories. It has nine tea spoons of sugar, no minerals and no vitamins. Not only this, they are high in caffeine and are addictive. Along with this there are reports that consistent consumption of soft drinks lead to weaker bones. Talk about a package of ill effects packed together.

Eat a Fruit daily

Heard it before? Its time to apply it. In your attempt to lose weight you are ready to try out anything, weird diets and amazingly tiring workouts why not choose something as simple as eating a fruit daily. They are natural, when eaten as a whole give us anti-oxidants, plenty of minerals, are a great source of fiber and also satisfy your hunger.

Walk for 10 minutes every day

The gym membership is lying in a corner; the gym equipment at home has cob webs on it. The dream work out that you want somehow never materializes But dont you fret. Simply put on your shoes and walk.It is the easiest kind of exercise, doesnt require any of equipment or make a dent in your pocket and really works!

You wonder when the right time to go for walks is. Ideally you should walk in the morning when the air is fresh but you can walk anytime you please. Yes, for the grocery shopping dont opt for a rickshaw, when back from office, might as well take the longer route home walking remember small steps but consistent ones, have effect.

Have desert 1 serving only

You have done it for long. Eaten your last mouthful of chocolate cake and mithais and then declared these were my last, tomorrow I start dieting. But every single day the sights of these sweets made you lose your will and you were back where you started.

We suggest a better option- never give up on deserts. No, we are not conspiring to make you fat, we are just suggesting that indulging a little bit once in a while will be good for you and your diet regime and there will be no guilt afterwards. Just remember to work out a bit more next day.

Have Breakfast daily

Remember how your mother always insisted that you finish your breakfast before you leave for school in spite of the fact that you did not want to. She was right. Breakfast is the meal that you just should not miss. You need to provide your body with adequate and nutritious breakfast if you expect it to work hard for you. So what is an idea of a good breakfast? Something which is not packaged, has fiber, is low in sugar and basically which is not junk food.

Drink only water for thirst

You must be wondering what this actually means. But arent soft drinks, juices, energy drinks, coffee your favorite drinks? Then you must be drinking these to quench your thirst. The result- you get loads of sugar a.k.a calories in your body and your thirst is not properly quenched and you even get hungrier.

The solution- simply, opt for water, the divine drink that serves the purpose, keeps us full, is cheap and also helps in losing weight.

Keep my fridge and closet junk free

Thats easy to do. Just one fine day, throw all the junk out- chips, packaged food, pasta, ice creams and other tempting foods and keep it that way. Replace them with good, healthy options like cereals, oats, energy bars and keep fruits handy in the fridge.

Lose at least 2 kilos

This is an aim that is not that impossible to achieve, this also does not require extra ordinary efforts, just little bit of more physical activity and a bit of conscientious eating. You also do not have to lose 2 kilos in the first week itself, what matters is to start and then the rest follows.
