The beginning of the job searching process is to put together a resume that you can send to potential employers. A good resume is focused on the skills and qualifications acquired through prior job history. You want to put your best foot forward with your resume, so take care to proofread it for spelling and grammar mistakes. Once you have developed a resume that demonstrates you unique skills you can move forward with the job searching process.

The next step is to consider what resources are available to you to search for job openings. Most people perform their job search online, and so a good place to start is identifying websites you will use. At first, you will probably need to visit all of them to see what they have to offer, but then you may be able to focus in on specific ones. After identifying jobs that you believe you are qualified for you can move forward with the job searching process.

Once you have found these opportunities that interest you it is time to actually apply for a job. Each job listing is different, but they usually will contain specific instructions for you should apply for the opportunity. There is no way to tell if your application will be received if you don't follow the instructions exactly as they are provided, so be sure to read them carefully.

You are not done after submitting your application though; you will still need to follow up as well. Even if you have never considered this step to be part of the job searching process before, it can really go along way. Following up with the employer after you have submitted your application may keep you fresh in the hiring managers mind. Most people agree that it will make you look very professional, and you might even get an added benefit of adding someone to your network.
