What Is Composed In Acne Treatment For Adults

By Vernell Hunter

Acne treatment for adults comes in a variety of ways. Acne refers to a disease that affects hair follicles of the back, face, and chest. It affects both genders especially during puberty with the exception of some primitive isolated societies in Neolithic tribes. It does not result from bacterial infection although they play a role in their development.

Acne comes in diverse forms and kinds. Its appearance is in diverse ways too. Among them are formation of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, and zits among several others. The commonest type is Vulgaris which has three sub-divisions. The first sub-division is non-inflammatory. It is milder and is characterized by formation of whiteheads and blackheads. Papules, macules, and pustules characterize the inflammatory form, which is also moderate.

Cystic type is a more severe kind of Vulgaris and comprises formation of nodules and cysts. It often leads to deep scarring. The 2nd type is Rosacea whose cause is not known yet. Since cause is unknown, it cannot be cured but can only be treated. Other forms include gram-negative folliculitis, conglobata, filminans, and pyoderma faciale.

Treatment of this condition may be as simple as using over the counter medicines. However, for tougher cases, one should seek professional help for best results. Treatments function by fighting bacterial infection, increasing skin cell turnover, reducing inflammation, or reducing oil production. Many treatments take between 4 to 8 weeks before results manifest. The skin condition might get worse before getting better finally.

Treatments should not be taken during pregnancy especially during the first trimester. Treatments include over the counter topical treatments, topical treatments by prescription, antibiotics, and isotretinoin. Acne lotions can dry up oil, kill bacteria and boost sloughing of dead cells. These medications are generally mild and contain sulfur, salicylic acid, or enzoyl peroxide as main active ingredients.

If over counter treatments do not offer the expected effects, one has to seek a doctor for a stronger prescription. Such prescriptions comprise tazarotene, Tretinoin, adapalene, which are all topical products of vitamin A. They stop follicles from plugging and enhance cell turnover. The 2 types of medications discussed so far should never be used concomitantly since the consequences are normally devastating. Antibiotics treat moderate or severe forms of acne. However, cases of bacterial resistance against oral antibiotics have increased. Physicians stop prescription when patients start feeling better or when their conditions worsen.

Light and laser therapies reach deeper skin layers without causing damage to the surface. They damage oil glands so that they start producing less oil. Light therapy targets bacteria that leads to this condition. These techniques reduce appearance of scars and enhance skin texture. They may however result in temporary skin complications that appear like sunburns.

Cosmetic procedures such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion have a lot of significance. They do best when blended with other techniques. They are used in rectification of minor facial scars, sun damages, and fine lines. They can cause temporary, severe redness, scaling, and blistering. The skin can also get discolored permanently. Surgery of the skin is utilized to eliminate little scars. The holes created are repaired by use of stitches or skin grafts. Kids should never be taken through acne treatment for adults.
