By Bill Bridges

If you want to truly enjoy a glass of wine, there are certain guidelines that you should follow. In this article, you will learn a few tips on how to enjoy wine better. Read through and learn!

It is common to think that the colder a drink is, the better it will taste. This is not true when it comes to drinking wine. There are specific temperature ranges that certain wines are to be chilled at for them to be enjoyed better. All wines contain tannins, which are substances that are found in the grapes used in making wines. Some wines contain more tannins than others. The darker a wine is, the higher the level of tannins. Tannins cannot be chilled too cold because they will taste bitter. Red wines should be chilled at a different temperature compared to white wines and champagnes. Most red wines are good when chilled to around 62 degrees. You can use a wine thermometer in order to make sure that your wines are chilled to the right temperature.

To enhance your wine drinking experience further, you should also consider the wine glass that you are using. The wine glass you use to drink your wine can either make your wine drinking experience better or worse. You will find that there are various kinds of wine glasses on the market. Wine glasses vary not only in size and shape, but also in the material that they are made from. Choose lead-free wine glasses. Generally, crystal wine glasses are the best to use.

Wine glasses come in various shapes and sizes because the features of a wine glass can potentially maximize your wine drinking experience. The shape of the wine glass can determine at which part of your mouth the wine will first touch. Wines vary in flavor and aroma and certain wines will be best enjoyed only if certain taste buds are stimulated. Choose the right wine glass for the right type of wine.

For example, oval wine glasses are best for white wines, while red wines are best drunk from narrow-rimmed wine glasses that have round bottoms. Bubbly wines are best served in long, narrow wine glasses, because the shape prevents the bubbles from escaping.
