Hair Color Chalk Will Prove An Exciting Proposition

By Brittney Swanson

Beauty fads come and go as quickly as those associated with clothing, perhaps even quicker. One trend that has seen a lot of attention lately and which seems to have a lot of staying power is hair color chalk. Using these colors is a temporary way to turn hair different color, without resorting to permanent dye that takes ages to fade or grow out.

Other downsides to permanent dyes are that they can last long past when the person thinks the results are attractive. When people change their looks they have to consider their professional state as well as if they are in school or not. Temporary options are important because it means that they can be applied on the weekend and gone by the time work or school comes back around.

Dipping hair into different products or streaking with different hues is a popular trend in the beauty world today. The results vary, but people can get brightly colored styles, sombre, or dark and deep colorations. Because of the overall look, most professionals and student would not wear the look in their day to day lives because it may not be considered entirely appropriate.

There are two options when it comes to these products, and both have their own unique set of advantages and disadvantages. Some people choose to go the less expensive route and just buy pastels from their local craft store. Others choose the smarter but more costly route and purchase professional chalks from a beauty supply company.

While it is more than possible to achieve similar results with craft pastels, there are some downsides that come along with doing it this way. They are not as high quality as those sold in beauty shops and online which are formulated for use on humans. There is little evidence as to how safe this technique is for the hair and using craft supplies may not be the smartest move.

People who have done this technique with pastels from the craft store do get results but also report some rather bothersome disadvantages. The biggest of these disadvantages include the color running if it gets wet, transfer to skin, and even staining any clothing that it touches. People who like using the craft variety try and get around these pitfalls by wearing dark colored clothing and not going outside if the weather is bad.

For those looking for something more staying and less bothersome, buying supplies from a beauty chain or professional company is the way to go. These chalks are formulated specifically for use on humans and not a craft project. They are also temporary but not so much so that they run onto clothing immediately after application, rub onto hands, or begin to run when the slightest bit of moisture hits the head.

As an added benefit, the chalks which are professional formulated for beauty use come in a huge range of colors, including glitters and metallic versions. When applied, hair color chalk can give very unique and beautiful results. Many people have never seen anything like it so the affect is even more noticeable.
