How Your Animal Crossing Universe Can Utilize Organic Farming

By Rob Sutter

In "Animal Crossing," you are living out on your own for the first time. You move to a new town and once you're there, you must take up a job and perform duties, all the while socialize with your friends and neighbors within the town. In order to make the most money, though, sometimes selling off different items can help, whether it's furniture you don't want or food items you uncover. For the latter, I say organic farming is the best way to profit in your town.

There are many jobs that have to conduct in "Animal Crossing" but they only account for just a fraction of what the game at large is about. Fishing and gardening are just two of the jobs one can conduct in order to both raise money and kill time as you'd like. How about adding organic farming to that mix, too? It could certainly be a nice addition to the town and many people could profit, too. I'm sure that the local market, Nook's Cranny, would be able to accept the homegrown fruits and vegetables for a price, acting akin to sellers such as Colle Farmers Market.

What about going to visit separate towns altogether? "Animal Crossing" possesses that ability and players can easily move from their town to another if they have friends to play with. Once this link is made, it gives a person all the opportunity they need to sell products that aren't native there. Is a peach is told in a town where an apple is the sole fruit growth, there's no question that the peach would be worth more. In order to make the most money, sometimes you need to gauge the value of items from location to location.

Wouldn't it be something else if the game let you open up shop for yourself? After all, you have a mortgage that needs to be met, so who's to say that you couldn't rack up money to do so faster? It'd be easy to set up shop with the items that you farm being put up for sale. Marketing your items to Nook's Cranny is fine and all but the truth of the matter is that going into business for yourself might just help you live a more sustainable life in "Animal Crossing."

Farmers in the world we know it today have been able to sell off products they grow in their own fields like berries and corn. If this is the case, what would it hurt to apply that way of life to a video game such as "Animal Crossing?" Since fishing, digging, and working in general are done in copious amounts, why not incorporate something that, while taxing, can ultimately benefit you financially? With a mortgage to look out for, this idea could stand strong.
